[Updated 26 June 2018] World leaders (who aren’t Trump) tend to be circumspect when they speak. But not every head of state follows this convention. Right here in Southeast Asia we have President Rodrigo Duterte.

Recently, the President of the Philippines told UN Special Rapporteur Diego Garcia-Sayan to “go to hell”.

One thing is for sure – Duterte is no stranger to speaking his mind in the name of his country and well, himself. Here are some of his most infamously memorable quotes throughout his time in politics.

When he was mad at the Pope because his visit caused bad traffic, January 2015

In response to concerns raised by the EU about extra-judicial killings taking place in the Philippines, 2016
“Even the EU is scolding me…When I was mayor, that was OK, but it is different now because I am the president. Why would you insult me? It is as if I am your subordinate…F**k you.” – Source: The Irish Times

Still angry with the EU after they criticised his plans to bring back the death penalty, March 2017
“Do not impose your culture or your belief in what would be a government in this planet. Do not impose on other countries, especially us. Why don’t you mind your own business? Why do you have to f**k with us, goddamn it?” – Source: The Guardian

Feeling blasé about human rights during his presidential campaign, 2016
“Forget the laws on human rights. If I make it to the presidential palace, I will do just what I did as mayor. You drug pushers, hold-up men and do-nothings, you better go out. Because I’d kill you. I’ll dump all of you into Manila Bay, and fatten all the fish there.” – Source: BBC

When addressing a group of former rebels at a private event, February 2018
“Tell the soldiers. ‘There’s a new order coming from [sic] mayor. We won’t kill you. We will just shoot your vagina, so that…if there is no vagina, it would be useless.” – Source: Coconuts

He’s just a bag full of sunshine, this guy.

And in case you missed it, here, presented sans comment (though we assure you you will have a comment) is the now infamous video of President Duterte locking lips with an overseas Filipina worker in South Korea.
