3 Live Music Showcases to Cure Cabin Fever During Covid-19 #RMO
Almost the entire globe is either under lockdown or restrictive movement order, which prevents and prohibits individuals from leaving their homes to carry on with their daily routine. Music artists included. To cure your boredom, and perhaps theirs too, many have resorted to either performing live DJ sets or live musical showcases in their own homes for more than a week already. Here are three major events that shouldn’t be missed this weekend.
Beatport DJ Marathon
On Friday, 27 March at 8pm GMT, Beatport will broadcast a live, 24-hour global DJ marathon in partnership with Twitch. 24 of electronic dance music legends including the likes of Carl Cox, Bonobo, Nina Kraviz, A-Trak, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing and Nora En Pure, will be performing from their homes or studios around the globe. This streaming event will provide a platform to unite our global community during these unprecedented times, while also supporting charities to help those most in need.
During the live stream on Twitch, viewers can make donations, with the money going directly to benefit those most impacted by the crisis. The funds will be administered by the AFEM (Association For Electronic Music) and will be distributed to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO looking after frontline health concerns, and the AFEM Members COVID – 19 Hardship fund. Beatport will also be working with key industry partners to give away gear and merchandise to randomly selected donors during the live event.
WONDA Coffee is bringing a live concert directly to your home featuring some of Malaysia’s top artists who will be performing from their very own home. This is the country’s Malaysia’s first-ever concert-from-home concept that aims to keep everyone entertained for seven days straight during the Movement Control Order (MCO). The initiative began on the 25 March and will continue until 31 March. It features a different artist every day with each session lasting up to 30 minutes on Astro Ria or ERA IG TV at 6.30pm. The line-up includes Aizat Amdan, Noh Salleh, Syamel, Zizi Kirana, Haqiem Rusli, Akim and Stacy.
There is a bonus for tuning in these daily performances. WONDA Coffee will be running daily challenges – Cabaran #WONDADiRumah based on the theme of the day where the audience can be in the running to win e-vouchers worth RM14,000. Daily challenges announcements will be made every morning via ERA Instagram or on-air and consumers to upload their submission (video or photo) by tagging @era.je with hashtag #WONDADiRumah.
