We might not be able to head to the States anytime soon, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible to enjoy some good ol’ American grub.

Just months ago, The Cheesecake Factory made its debut in town (get a slice of that news here), and now, seems like the cult favourite will be joined by others. Because, yes, it’s official: those residing in Malaysia will finally be able to enjoy Taco Bell and Five Guys!

Malaysia’s first ever Taco Bell outlet is scheduled to be at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Petaling Jaya. Located right across Sunway Giza at Kota Damansara, the mall debuted the news via their Facebook page.

Taco Bell was founded by Glen Bell in 1962, and has been established as a go-to eatery for its inventive, often quirky, Mexican-inspired items.

So yes, expect quesadillas, burritos, tacos (of course), and more.

This is not Taco Bell’s first appearance in Southeast Asia. There are seven Taco Bell outlets in the Philippines, as well as six in Thailand. They were also previously in Singapore, but made an exit in 2009.

One of US’s most popular burger chains find its first Malaysian home in Genting Highlands. Local burger maestros myBurgerLab posted up a photo of a hoarding board in Genting Highlands with “FIVE GUYS COMING SOON!” on it.

Five Guys are known for their customisable burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. The best part is how you can customise your meal with as many free toppings as you like, ranging from lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapeño peppers, hot sauce, and the list goes on.

The brand is fairly new in this part of the world – its first outlet opened at Plaza Singapura during December 2019. Franchise holder, Zouk Group, is in charge of said outlet.

There’s no these big boys are going to be a great addition to Malaysia’s fast food dining scene. Watch this space for future updates.
