Singapore International Jazz Festival
When: 6 – 8 April 2018
Where: Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
For its fifth anniversary year, SingJazz has enlisted some of its biggest headline acts yet. Lauryn Hill, Estelle (pictured above), Lalah Hathaway, Omar, Jamie Cullum and ’90s superstars Soul II Soul and Brand New Heavies are just some of the stars you can expect to see and hear over three days of great performances.

Skride Performs Sibelius
When: 6 – 7 April 2018
Where: Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Acclaimed Latvian violinist Baiba Skride performs Sibelius’s lively and exhilarating Violin Concerto, widely considered to be one of the most technically difficult pieces, and best heard in the full surround sound of the MPO’s concert hall. Conductor Gilbert Varga also delivers Shu-si Chen’s Phoenix as an overture and ends the concert with Hungarian Zoltán Kodály’s folkish Dances of Galanta.

Youthful Musical Adventures
When: 14 and 15 April
Where: Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra
Be entranced by the playful notes of Debussy’s Children’s Corner, brought to life by German-Japanese conductor Jun Märkl. The high energy mood only elevates in the next three lively pieces: Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1, and Strauss’s Don Juan and Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks, all starring pianist Melody Quah.
