Bond actress, 'That '70s Show' star Tanya Roberts Is Still Alive
In less than 24 hours, the world was shocked by the news of the former Bond actress who passed away at the age of 65. And earlier today, Roberts was reported to be not dead, instead. Admitted to Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on 24 December 2020, the star is confirmed to be alive and in ‘critical’ condition.
False alarm
Her publicist Mike Pingel was earlier quoted by US media saying Roberts has died. The assumption resulted from a “miscommunication” with Roberts’ partner Lance O’Brien. The actress remains in ‘critical’ condition in Los Angeles, according to the statement made by the publicist. Following the latest announcement, a Cedars-Sinai spokeswoman said the hospital does not confirm or deny the identity of patients as a matter of policy due to privacy laws.
Talented star
Born in the Bronx, New York, in 1955, Roberts did some modeling and commercial work first. From there, she was able to play be part of the final season of “Charlie’s Angels” series. She was acting as a private investigator where Roberts helped the team of female crimefighters.
“It was my first steady job, and it launched my career,” Roberts said on her website.
When Roberts is famously known for her role as a geologist Stacey Sutton in the 1985 James Bond film “A View to a Kill.” Starring the dashing Roger Moore as Max Zorin, a mysterious industrialist during his last appearance as 007.
Beyond her talented role as a Bond girl, Roberts also starred in the 1982 sword-and-sorcery fantasy “The Beastmaster,” followed by being part of “Sheena: Queen of the Jungle,” movie the female version of Tarzan. As a result, she was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards and became a cult classic.
Other notable movie appearances included “Body Slam” and “Night Eyes.”
Years gone by, Roberts is still active and best known nowadays for her role in the sitcom “That ’70s Show.” Starring as Midge Pinciotti, a sexy neighborhood mum where young male fantasized about when coming of age. Even though the role portrayed as the dim-witted mother of Donna, played by Laura Prepon, her kind-hearted soul shined through developing feminist ideals.
