The bromance between actor Hugh Grant and director Guy Ritchie seems to go way back. 65 years ago, the fathers of the pair posed for a photograph in Singapore.
The celebrities’ dads – Captain James Grant and Captain John Ritchie were stationed in Singapore, as part of the infantry regiment Seaforth Highlanders. To mark Remembrance Sunday on 10 November, Guy Ritchie posted a photo of his father and his regiment mates.
He followed up the old image with a current one, with Hugh Grant and himself standing in the same positions as their fathers, taken in a film set in London. The original photograph has Captain John Ritchie (right) and Captain James Grant (standing, centre). The regiment, part of the British Army, existed from 1881 to 1961 and fought in two World Wars.
The photo also revealed a nice surprise – Rory Gibb, Guy Ritchie’s Production Assistant for his upcoming film, The Gentleman, discovered that his grandfather was also in the original photo. He too joined in to replicate the image posted on Guy Ritchie’s Instagram account.
Guy Ritchie’s The Gentleman, also features Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell and of course, Henry Golding! It is due for release next year.
