The last two people who may have seen 18-year-old Dutch model Ivana Smit alive have admitted to having sex with her shortly before she was found dead on 7 December 2017.

Cryptocurrency trader Alexander Johnson, 44, and his 30-year-old wife Lunara Almazkyzy (also known as Luna) told The Mail on Sunday about their “progressive marriage”, and how they first had a threesome with Ivana in November.

The Johnsons met Ivana in October 2017 at Prime, a nightclub in Kuala Lumpur. They have had brief flings with other people, but shared a closer bond with her. WhatsApp group messages shared between the three contained explicit flirting, the couple told MoS. They also knew Ivana had been drinking and taking drugs the night they were partying with her before her death. A post-mortem confirmed that she had alcohol and drugs in her system.

“We had a real connection,” Luna said in the interview. “When we sat down to talk, I felt I’d known her forever. She said she was 26. I didn’t question her age.”

Luna recalled the last few hours of her seeing Ivana alive. The morning after the alcohol and drug-fuelled party, the 18-year-old model had breakfast at the couple’s home while Luna got her 5-year-old daughter ready for school. Luna returned to the apartment at 8.15am, during which Ivana and Alex were in bed.

“She was awake, he was asleep,” Luna said. “I came over and said, ‘Ok, now I’m free.’ We sat on the sofa and after 20 minutes she put on some music and took off all her clothes. So we went into the bedroom and were intimate.”

At about 10am, Ivana was “wandering around, talking to herself and giggling,” according to Luna, who then went back to sleep at around 10.15am. She only noticed that the girl was missing at about 1.25pm, but it was assumed that she had gone for a photoshoot she had mentioned before.

Early investigations by local police categorised her death as accidental; even the second investigation, opened after Ivana’s family protested, had the same conclusion. On Sunday, Smit’s family lawyer told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that “male DNA” was found in Ivana by pathologist Frank van de Goot, who thought that she had sex a few hours before her death.

The Johnsons maintained that they are innocent over Ivana’s death, but they have received death threats since the incident. Someone even threatened to kidnap their daughter.

Alex said: “A man phoned our nanny, saying he was Luna’s father and would be picking her up from school. Luna’s father died before she was born.”

“We never intended to make the details of our marriage public. Now we fear our own lives are in danger, and we have no choice.”

According to Alex and Luna, there were footprints on the balcony and on the air-conditioning units to suggest that Ivana had fallen off after losing her balance. That aside, there’s yet to be an official statement from Malaysian authorities about whether Ivana died before or after the fall.
