Dead to Me

A dark comedy series starring Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini, James Marsden and Natalie Morales. The story is about Jen’s husband who recently died in a hit-and-run which led to a sardonic widow, Judy, determined to solve the crime. She has recently suffered from a tragic loss of her own. The unlikely friendship begins when the ladies meet at a support group. Bonded over bottles of wine and a shared of affinity for The Facts of Life, dark secrets lie underneath the friendship. Regrettably, fans of the comedy-drama starring will have to say goodbye to this show after its third and final season. The exact release date is yet to be confirmed.

Dear White People

Based on the adaptation of Justin Simien’s 2014 critically acclaimed film of the same name, the show portrays cultural bias, race relations, social injustice, misguided activism and politics. The issue follows a group of students of colour at a mostly white elite university, the fictional Ivy League school Winchester University. Led by Samantha White (Tessa Thompson), the students are faced with many issues, which still relates very much to today’s “post-racial” society.

F is for Family

Set in the 1970s, this animated raunchy comedy is inspired by the life of stand-up comic Bill Burr, who is a co-creator and executive producer of the series. It celebrates all things during the 70s, which includes the lifestyle, music and everything nostalgic. Besides, producing the show, Burr also voices the character of Frank Murphy, a short-tempered veteran who lives in the suburbs with his wife, Sue (Laura Dern) and their three children. Frank, who works at an airport, has a penchant for shouting and profanity-filled rants. The series celebrates all things the 1970s, including the lifestyle, the music, and all sorts of other nostalgic details. Set to be ending with a fifth and final season this year with a yet-to-be-confirmed date.

Feel Good

The critically acclaimed British comedy-drama is a deeply personal and poignant story about the modern’s acceptance of gender and sexuality. Starring Mae Martin, Charlotte Ritchie, Ritu Arya and Lisa Kudrow, the semi-autobiographical comedy show follows a recovering addict and comedian Mae (Mae Martin) on her attempts to control her addictive behaviours and intense romanticism in her life. As if that’s not complicated enough, the story gets more interesting as she delves into an all-consume relationship with her new girlfriend, George (Charlotte Ritchie). The show is scheduled to be aired this air but there is no specific date yet.

Grace and Frankie

La Casa de Papel

Widely known as Money Heist, this Spanish show proved a global hit when it was first released in 2017. It is about a criminal mastermind who goes by the name “The Professor,” played by Alvaro Morte. He has a plan to pull off the biggest heist ever to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain. To support his evil plan, he recruits eight people with certain abilities to help him succeed. This year marks the show’s fifth and final season which we have received no confirmation yet on the release date.

The Kominsky Method

The Netflix original sitcom was created by multiple Emmy winner Chuck Lorre, starring Michael Douglas, Alan Arkin, Sarah Baker and Nancy Travis. Sandy Kominsky played by Michael Douglas is an ageing acting coach who isn’t ready to set off the sunset just yet. The show follows the journey of Kominsky and his longtime agent, Norman Newlander played by Alan Arkin, as they stand by each other through any obstacles arise. Not to mention their take their later years in Los Angeles, a city that values beauty and youth. While the latter will not return for the third and final season, the actor’s absence will be written into the show for its final episodes. It’s not yet been confirmed when the final season will land.

Lucifer

Mysterious in so many ways, this devilish show still has eight episodes from its fifth season left to screen, due in 2021. The story is about Lucifer played by Tom Ellis who is bored of his responsibility in being the Lord of Hell. He relocates to Los Angeles, where he opens a nightclub as a start. In time, he forms a connection with a homicide detective, Malcolm Graham played by Kevin Rankin. Already renewed for a sixth and final season, the show’s final 10 episodes could air in 2021, although this is not yet confirmed.

Ozark

The Emmy-Award-winning show was created by Bill Dubuque, starring Jason Bateman as Mary Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his wife Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) and two kids from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. Byrde is constantly on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, which forces him to pay a substantial amount to a Mexican drug lord to keep his family from harm. The show will premier the first part of its fourth and final season in this year. The second part may be coming in 2022 where each part will comprise seven episodes.

Lost in Space

This futuristic show tells a story about the Robinson family fighting against all odds to survive and escape after crash-landing on an alien planet. Starring Molly Parker, Toby Stephens and Maxwell Jenkins, this futuristic show will bow out with a third and final season, although it’s not yet certain exactly when it will land.
