KLoé Hotel hit a bump in the road when it officially opened its doors days before Malaysia went into lockdown back in mid-March. Now, they are ready to get back on track with the Recovery Movement Control Order in place, which allows domestic travellers to finally be able to discover its charms.

This charming boutique hotel sits minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Bukit Bintang. Despite it being in a busy part of Kuala Lumpur, KLoé sits in a perfect nook that easily transports its guests into a different world altogether. The hotel’s lobby, which is aptly called, The Living Room is reminiscent of what ‘home’ is like.

There are plush sofas and coffee tables for you to read or have a nice hot cuppa while chatting with others around you. A 10-foot communal table is perfectly placed to encourage guests to mingle and mix around with fellow patrons. You don’t even have to bring your own book along as there are plenty of choices waiting to be plucked from its shelves.

KLoé’s bold architecture and interior design serve as a background for Malaysian contemporary art and design. It is reflected through their collaboration KLoé with local artists and designers where possible. Every guest room is fitted with original pieces of art by commissioned artisans.  From hand-thrown ceramic lampshades to handcrafted desks, the rooms are fitted with plenty of fixtures to marvel at.

The Courtyard Room with views of the swimming pool is void of views of the busy roads outside of its vicinity. The room is splashed in cool, calm tones of duck-egg blue and sage that is very pleasing to the eyes. The copper-trimmed open storage and vanity counters, coupled with bespoke mid-century furnishings give it a modern, understated feel. The serene space comes complete with necessities including apps to mirror your devices, in-house designed city guides, artisanal snacks, and amenities by the cult Australian skin and body care brand Aesop.

Aside from being known as a chic hotel, KLoé also hopes to market itself as a destination foodies will flock to. There are two food and beverage establishment within its space. You will find Lucky Coffee within the hotel’s lounge area. Serving good quality specialty coffee, patrons can also nibble on simple servings of gourmet sandwiches, ready meals, and nitro drinks at The Living Room.

Fill up on casual comfort food options at Monroe. Photo: KLoé Hotel

A highlight at the hotel is Monroe, a breezy California-styled bistro that serves all-time favourite comfort food. The interior draws inspiration from a typical American diner, with a counter in the middle of the place. The overall look is modern chic but cosy at the same time with its warm palette and floor-to-ceiling glass windows. You’ll find a variety of casual comfort food here from Asian favourites like its Beef Char Siew Bowl that includes its signature slow-cooked Australian beef glazed with their hour char siew sauce that is roasted over open charcoal.
