This Year, Henry Golding Will Star Opposite Emilia Clarke in 'Last Christmas'
Christmas has come early for fans of Henry Golding and Emilia Clarke.
The Crazy Rich Asians star is set to play the love interest of Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke in the upcoming movie Last Christmas.
That’s not even the best part – according to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Feig, who directed Golding in A Simple Favour, will be directing him again in this holiday rom-com written by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings.
In an interview with UK’s Radio Times in July, Kimmings said that Last Christmas was inspired by the widely popular and festive Wham! song of the same name, adding that Thompson received George Michael’s blessing before his passing in 2016.
We all know how the song goes, and we can probably guess what will happen in the movie. Or can we? Interestingly, in the same interview with Radio Times, Kimmings said she included a “trans lead” in her original draft, though it doesn’t look like this character made it to the final edit.
The plot of the movie is being held tightly under Christmas wrapping, but Henry did suggest in a tweet that he will be shooting in London at the end of the year.
Finally I can start getting excited and share the news… @paulfeig and I will be back to business in London at the end of the year ❤️ https://t.co/pLI5S5S0zq

The Crazy Rich Asians breakout star and leading man started from humble beginnings as a hair dresser and television host. He’s now broken into Hollywood in a big way, starring alongside a few of Hollywood’s gliterrati such as Constance Wu, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in A Simple Favour.

Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke seems to be establishing herself as a Hollywood A-lister too. Since her juggernaut performance in hit TV series Game of Thrones as fragile flower turned badass Mother of Dragons Daenerys Targaryen, Clarke has dabbled on the big screen in films such as Me Before You and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Well, with so much excitement going on, it’s safe to say we’re all in for a Christmas surprise.
