Ivana Smit’s Grandparents Open Up About Her Death
UNRESERVED spoke exclusively to the late Dutch model’s grandparents, who had taken care of her since she was a baby.
“She cannot live without me. Everywhere she goes, I also go with her.”
Dutch model Ivana Smit’s grandfather Hendrik Smit recalled his relationship with her during a video interview with UNRESERVED. Hendrik and his wife Susan, who live in Penang, had raised Ivana since she was just 18 months old.
Ivana fell to her death on 7 December 2017 at a Dang Wangi condominium in Kuala Lumpur, but the investigation has not been conclusive. It is still unclear whether Ivana had fallen by accident or if there was any foul play involved. The last video evidence of her before her death is footage from a CCTV camera, in which she is seen leaving a night club in the arms of American national Alexander Johnson, accompanied by his Kazakh wife Luna.
“If you see the video,” Hendrik said, “she looks happy. But after you know she [has] passed away, you feel angry. Because we don’t know the truth.”
The investigation of Ivana’s death continues.
