5 Michelin-Starred Restaurants Worth the Short Flight from KL

When the National Gallery Singapore reopened its doors, the buzz was not just about its beautiful interiors but also of Chef Julien Royer’s dazzling culinary creations at Odette.

A handsomely turned out restaurant, it’s the ideal environment for a meal of fine ingredients composed with panache; it also happens to be Chef Johnson Ebenezer’s favourite Michelin-starred restaurant.

Gaggan, Bangkok
When haute food porn series Chef’s Table covered Gaggan in its second season, it revealed to the world what savvy gastronomes already knew, that this progressive Indian restaurant was Bangkok’s most exciting restaurant. The Michelin Guide agreed and gave Chef Gaggan Anand’s restaurant two stars (the most stars awarded in Bangkok this year). Try it before it closes in 2020.

Lung King Heen, Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s first Chinese restaurant to be awarded three Michelin stars, Lung King Heen at the Four Seasons serves delectable Cantonese food in one of the most exacting food scenes in Asia. Chef Chan Yan Tak’s delicately crafted and tantalisingly presentated cuisin is worth jostling for a reservation while the magnificient view of Victoria Harbour is just the cherry on top of the sundae.

Robuchon au Dome, Macau
Chef Jun Wong’s pick and her former workplace, Robuchon au Dome’s superlative 360° views enjoyed by diners at Joël Robuchon’s flagship restaurant high above Macau aloft the Grand Lisboa hotel dome is only matched by the exquisite food. Contemporary French cuisine well deserves its three-star rating along with impeccable service, immaculate table settings and one of the finest wine lists on the island.

Ultraviolet takes the conventional restaurant setting to a whole new and delicious level.

Ultraviolet, Shanghai
Bestowed with three stars and having accrued accolades from the industry and media, Ultraviolet is a high-concept restaurant which serves only 10 diners at a time in a high-tech private dining room.
