Public Figures Who Have Tested Positive for COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused more than 7,500 deaths worldwide and infected over 190,000 people. Among that, there’s an estimate of 164,000 cases recorded which includes government officials, celebrities and sports personalities. So here’s a list of the high profile patients who’ve tested positive for the virus.

Sophie Gregoire Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office reported last week that his wife, Sophie, has tested positive for COVID-19. “She is feeling well, is taking all the recommended precautions and her symptoms remain mild,” Trudeau’s office said in a statement.

Sime Darby Berhad (SDB) and Velesto Energy Berhad chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad (pic) has been preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19. SDB and Velesto mentioned a statement its chairman is now under the care of a health facility.

“SDB is working with the relevant authorities to ensure the health and safety of its employees, including proactively identifying those who have been in close contact with its chairman. He has not visited any of the SDB’s premises for the last 18 days,” it said in a statement released on 17 March 2020.

The NBA Utah Jazz basketball star triggered criticism after he was seen carelessly touching microphones and voice recorders at a media event on 9 March after he was diagnosed with the virus. The French athlete reminded people to keep washing their hands, stop touching their faces and avoid unnecessary contact with others.

Mikel Arteta

On 12 March, the 37-year-old Arsenal manager was the first in England’s football Premier League to be diagnosed with COVID-19. As a result, all matches were subsequently cancelled as the Arsenal squad was placed in quarantine.

Olga Kurylenko

The Quantum of Solace actor revealed she has tested positive in an Instagram post on 16 March. “Locked up at home after having tested positive for Coronavirus. I’ve actually been ill for almost a week now. Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms. Take care of yourself and do take this seriously,” she wrote in the caption.

Kristofer Hivju

The Game of Thrones’ star has also tested positive for COVID-19. The Norwegein actor and his family are self isolating at home, with Tormund only showing mild symptoms of a cold.

Although COVID-19 continues to spread, this is certainly not a time to panic. Basic hygiene practices are the best way to prevent the spread of the virus.
