'Sex and the City' Revival: New Look, New Title And New Streamline's Cast
The words have been out that a revival of the hit show Sex and the City will be coming to HBO Max, the network announced on Sunday. From Netflix’s controversial series Emily in Paris to Sex and the City Revival, the creator, Darren Star has confirmed that the series will consist of 10 episodes, titled “And Just Like That.” The much-anticipated show will star all of its original leads (Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis) except actress Kim Cattrall. HBO did not specify why she was not returning, but fans on Twitter are begging for her return on the show instead.
Honey, if you don’t have Samantha, you don’t have a show.
Everybody knows that.

When is the premiere on HBO Max?
Unfortunately, the streaming platform has yet to announce a set date for the release of And Just Like That. However, the series is expected to begin its production in New York City in the late spring, this year. There’s a possibility that the show will be premiering in the fall of 2021 or early next year. We’ll see!
Is there a teaser of the Sex and the City revival?
In the original Sex and the City, Parker played protagonist and narrator Carrie Bradshaw. Nixon and Davis played her best friends, lawyer Miranda Hobbes and art dealer Charlotte York, respectively, while Cattrall, who played sexually liberated publicist Samantha Jones, was not mentioned in the statement. Parker, who will also produce alongside Nixon, Davis and Michael Patrick King.
The story will follow the three women as they navigate love and friendship in their 50s. HBO did not specify a premiere date but said that production is set to start in New York City in late spring. The casts posted a teaser trailer on Instagram last Sunday; a short video is a montage of classic New York City shots, intercut with images of Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic computer screen, on which the phrases “And just like that…” and “The story continues…” are typed out. Parker’s signature voiceover accompanies the clips.
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved city that has always defined them,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, in the statement.

Will Sex And the City revival be up to par as Darren Star’s latest series, Emily in Paris?
To recall, Emily in Paris is a fish-out-water romantic comedy about an American marketing executive living the dream in the French capital. Except that Emily – played by Lily Collins, the actress daughter of pop star Phil Collins — is in over her head, without a word of the language. The frisson of cultural tension runs almost as strong as the romance through the show – which is due to air next year – with Star admitting that he “has great fun with cultural misunderstandings but also the exchanges.”
While the original Sex And The City, which HBO described as “groundbreaking” in its statement, was created based on Candace Bushnell’s eponymous 1997 book. It premiered in 1998 and ran for six seasons. The show portrays the successes and failures of the four, lifelong friends and how they deal with sisterhood, sexual independence, womanhood and career. It was also made into two movies that came out in 2008 and 2010. A prequel series, “The Carrie Diaries,” premiered on the CW in 2013 and ran for two seasons.

If fans can recall, the Sex and the City story left off where the four friends returning to New York City after their drama-filled trip to Abu Dhabi. Questions remain unveiled with their personal life. Carrie and Big were worrying about being a ‘boring’ married couple while Miranda was feeling empowered at a job in a new law firm and Charlotte was approaching motherhood on a fresh outlook.
As for now, And Just Like That will centre around Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda as they navigate their journey through the complicated reality of life and friendship in the 50s. No further details have been shared so far.
