The concept of co-working spaces wowed the industry when it first made its rounds and now, we’re about to experience another revolutionary idea: cloud kitchens. Commercial facilities specifically built to produce food for delivery. These shared kitchens are also known as ghost kitchens or virtual kitchens with the delivery-only food brands operating within them.
This growing concept has now reached Malaysian shores and at the perfect time too. Many food entrepreneurs are operating from their own homes and those who are in need of commercial kitchen spaces can launch their own virtual restaurant concepts. COOKHOUSE, a Malaysian startup, is currently reaching out to fledgling F&B entrepreneurs with the country’s first community-based co-sharing kitchen space.

This project is a collaboration with tech companies including Food Market Hub, Aliments, Oddle, SoCar and Mr.Speedy. Business owners looking to tap into the food delivery market can grow their brand in a fully equipped kitchen, with plenty of opportunities for collaborating and networking in this commercial-grade facility.
Located in Petaling Jaya, COOKHOUSE features five private kitchen studios, a shared baking production, walk-in freezers and chillers, packing facility, loading area, and food delivery pick up stations to ease production distribution. The founders aim to empower food entrepreneurs to sharpen their kitchen and entrepreneurial skills without having to invest in their own brick-and-mortar lot.
“Through COOKHOUSE, we are looking to build a platform of like-minded individuals, passionate about food and business. By providing them with a conducive space and state-of-the-art cooking equipment, COOKHOUSE aims to be an incubator and community for food entrepreneurs – shortening their learning curve and accelerating their online and delivery business growth,” said Huen Su San, founder of the brand.
“More established food businesses are also able to capitalise on the space and services by growing its market reach for delivery and online markets at a lower cost than before,” he added. The biggest benefit of a shared kitchen space is the amount of cost business owners will save. With a lesser rent fee, residents will also get great amenities and facilities through affordable packages, which are customised to fit their specific requirements.
“We want to reach out to growing “foodpreneurs” by offering them the right kind of environment to ensure their business grows efficiently and sustainably. COOKHOUSE is a space that takes food startups and food operators and provides them an edge through the opportunities of shared spaces. With us, residents can find a supportive network and a unique advantage of operating from a shared cooking space. They can worry less about the small stuff like equipment maintenance, renovation, and pest control, and instead focus on building their business ideas and satisfying their customers,” Su San elaborated.
The co-cooking space is currently fully operational and is ready to welcome all food entrepreneurs to take their businesses and cooking to the next level.
